Origin-based pricing

Recently implemented charging mechanisms in a number of countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) have resulted in two (and in some cases more) alternative prices being applied to a single destination, with each price dependant on the origination route or country. According to this pricing mechanism, calls made within the boundaries of the EEA have become cheaper, while calls originating in non-EEA countries have become more expensive. In order to maintain compatibility with these changes, DIDWW has introduced origin-based pricing for the affected destinations.

How does origin-based pricing work?

With origin-based pricing, calls to a specific destination are priced according to where each call comes from. This system is being implemented in several steps. We have now introduced origin-based pricing in:

  • Austria

  • Belgium

  • Bulgaria

  • Croatia

  • Cyprus

  • Czech Republic

  • Denmark

  • Estonia

  • Finland

  • France

  • Germany

  • Greece

  • Hungary

  • Iceland

  • Ireland

  • Italy

  • Latvia

  • Liechtenstein

  • Lithuania

  • Luxembourg

  • Malta

  • Netherlands

  • Norway

  • Poland

  • Portugal

  • Romania

  • Slovakia

  • Slovenia

  • Spain

  • Sweden

  • United Kingdom

Calls originating in any country within the European Economic Area will be charged at considerably lower rates when calling any of these 25 countries.

How does this affect me?

Per-minute pricing for calls made to certain countries will be automatically determined by the caller ID information sent when placing the call. DIDWW expects that additional countries will introduce origin-based call pricing, and we will update your pricelist accordingly.
