In the past year, new charging mechanisms have been implemented in a number of countries in Europe, where two (and in some cases more) alternative prices are applied against a single destination, with each price dependant on the origination route or country. According to the new pricing mechanism, calls within the boundries of EEA have become cheaper, while calls originating in a non-EEA country have become more expensive. In order to maintain compatibility with these changes, DIDWW has introduced origin-based pricing for the affected destinations.
How does origin-based pricing work?
With origin-based pricing, calls to a specific destination are priced according to where each call comes from. This system is being implemented in several steps. We are now introducing origin-based pricing in:
Calls originating in any country of the European Economic Area will be charged at considerably lower rates when calling any of these eighteen countries.
How does this affect me?
Per-minute pricing for calls made to certain countries will be automatically determined by the caller ID information sent when placing the call. A list of the destinations using origin-based pricing is available in our [FAQ], and full per-minute cost details are reflected in your current pricelist. DIDWW expects that additional countries will introduce origin-based call pricing, and we will update your pricelist accordingly. Please check our FAQ regularly for changes.
