# NANPA Prefixes

Use the NANPA Prefixes resource to retrieve NANPA prefixes available in the DIDWW
inventory.

A NANPA prefix identifies a numbering prefix within the North American Numbering Plan.
The `npa` attribute represents the Numbering Plan Area code, commonly referred to as
the area code. The `nxx` attribute represents the central office code within the NPA.

NANPA prefixes can be used to filter coverage and inventory resources by country, region,
NPA, NXX, combined NPA/NXX value, DID Group availability, or DID Group features.

Note

NANPA prefixes are available only for countries with country code `+1`.

## Common NANPA prefix use cases

| Use case | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Filter North American DID inventory | Use NANPA prefixes to filter DID Groups and Available DIDs for countries with country code `+1`. |
| Search by area code | Use the `npa` value to find DID inventory for a specific Numbering Plan Area. |
| Search by central office code | Use the `nxx` value to narrow DID inventory within a specific NPA. |
| Filter by full NPA/NXX prefix | Use the combined NPA/NXX value to retrieve inventory for a specific numbering prefix. |
| Check DID availability | Filter NANPA prefixes by DID Group availability to find prefixes with available DIDs. |
| Filter by DID features | Filter NANPA prefixes by DID Group features such as inbound voice, outbound voice, T.38, inbound SMS, or outbound SMS. |
